Centroid will be exhibiting and presenting at Collaborate 2015 in Las Vegas from April 12 - 16th. Stop by our booth, #717 on Main Street and be sure to attend our educational sessions.

Centroid’s team of experts will be available to discuss your technology needs, overall strategy to enhance your Oracle applications through leadership, user experience and integration assessments that apply to all product lines, including E-Business Suite to Engineered Systems. It's a perfect format to receive expert insight and explore OBI, Big Data, CRM, financials, HCM and how Centroid can assist with your current and future plans for upgrades, implementing and supporting complex infrastructure, technologies and applications strategies.

In one of our upcoming sessions, Adam Janbolat, Principal Solution Architect, Ned French, Senior Manager and Joshua Johnson, Senior Oracle Database Administrator from Simmons Foods will be presenting “Technical Modifications to Compress Period End Close R12.1.3.” This session will be directed to Oracle Apps DBAs, Oracle Core DBAs, CFOs, Accountants and Financial Application Developers.

Simmons Foods will discuss their experience as Centroid assisted them to upgrade to R12.1.3. Typically, running the Create Accounting Program - GMFAACCP would bring their entire production system to a halt. During their first month-end close on R12.1.3, the Create Accounting Program for Production ran for 22 hours. They experienced Users waiting counts of over 50, all 8 CPUs on their database server running at 100% for just the Create Accounting session, the generation of 100 GB of changes within the permanent tablespaces and 65 GB of archive logs. An XLA Create Accounting ran during peak business hours would generate up to 8 GB of logs per minute. It appeared that their legacy system would not be able to handle the increased resource demands of Oracle E-Business Suite R12.1.3.

However, through multiple rounds of tests and tuning, Simmons was able to decrease run-time from 22 hours to an average of 30 minutes. They were also able to reduce archive log generation from a little over 65 GB to less than 27 GB during their February 2014 month-end close. This was accomplished by modifying: huge pages, SGA, DBWr processes, subledger processor defaults and indexes. These actions compressed their period close process, saving an entire day.

After attending this session, you will be able to:
  • Gain a better understanding of data generation and system performance via shared experiences post upgrade from Oracle E-Business Suite 11i to Oracle E-Business Suite R12.1.3.
  • Identify tuning opportunities within the Oracle 11gR2 database architecture and Create Accounting Concurrent Program in R12.1.3 via easily replicated tuning examples.
  • Decrease runtime of subledger accounting; improve database efficiency on legacy systems.

To attend this session at Collaborate 2015, be sure to add it to your event agenda:
